Village Services

Garbage Collection & Recycling

Garbage and recycling collection is provided to the community by REACT Waste Management. Weekly residential pick up for the Village of Quill Lake is Wednesday mornings. Bags must be tagged and set out on the curb by 7am Wednesday to ensure pick up. Yellow REACT tags can be purchased at the village office for $3.50/tag.

Landfill Transfer Site

There is also a landfill transfer site located 1/2 mile west of the village.

Loads are charged by the volume as there is no scale at transfer locations.

The transfer station does NOT accept tires, hazardous waste such as antifreeze, chemical jugs, paints, solvents, cleaners, pesticide containers, etc. For current price fees please phone the REACT Office at 306-682-1955

Recycling

REACT provides a recycling program to the community, and a recycling drop off site which consists of community recyclable material bins located behind the Quill Lake Library. The bins can only accept Carboard, newsprint/magazines, office paper, and tin cans.

SARCAN (available in Watson and Wadena) currently accepts TVs, microwaves, non-cellular phones, paint cans—empty/full, refundable bottles, milk jugs, electronics, computers, & much more. Please check out SARCAN’s website for more information.

 

Water & Sewer Services

The village operates and supplies treated water and sewer services to municipal residents. Water is well sourced and treated at our local water treatment facility.

Fire Department

Quill Lake has a fire hall staffed by our local volunteer fire personnel and first responder crew.

The fire hall is attached to the Village office on the corner of Main St. and Saskatchewan Avenue.

First Responders

Quill Lake has a dedicated volunteer first response team that arrives when an emergency 911 call is placed. This immediate care team is valued in our community as they are trained to provide acute emergency care until ambulance transport from the neighbouring town of Watson can arrive.

Housing

Quill Lake Housing Authority

Administered at a local level on behalf of the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation, the Quill Lake Housing Authority provides social housing and senior housing options for low income families and seniors living and working in the area. Currently, the housing authority maintains and oversees the Heritage Homes 1&2 bedroom Seniors Apartments, 1 bedroom senior row houses, and a 4 bedroom low income family house in Quill Lake. Monthly rent is based on 30% of the applicant’s household income, and will need to be verified in the application process.
